Materials not found in the Library’s collection may be borrowed from another library through Interlibrary Loan (ILL) according to the following guidelines:

  • Patrons age 16 years and older with a valid library card may request a maximum of five (5) items per month per person for a three (3) week period
  • ILL items may not be renewed unless approved by the lending library. Contact the Jasper Public Library before the due date of your item to give the Reference Librarian time to contact the lending library about renewing your item
  • Fine for the late return of an ILL is $1.00 per day late per item to a maximum fine of $10.00
  • Patron is responsible for replacement cost of lost or damaged materials plus service charge and accrued fines
  • All charges from the lending library will be passed on to the patron
  • Books published within the last six (6) months may not be borrowed through ILL
  • First 20 pages of copying is free; $.10 per page for over 20 pages
  • Failure to pick up three (3) requested ILL items will result in loss of ILL privileges for six (6) months

Reserves

  • Patrons may place a reserve/hold on most materials that are checked out by another patron.
  • Library staff will notify patrons via a telephone call or e-mail when their reserved item is available. Every attempt will be made to contact the patron who reserved the material, however, the library cannot be responsible for messages not received
  • Reserved materials will be held on the reserve shelf for a maximum of two (2) days, not including days closed. If the reserved material is not picked up within the specified time period, it will be held for the next person on the list or returned to the collection

 Fines and fees

  • There are no overdue fines on Jasper-Dubois County Public Library collections
  • The library sends overdue notices as a courtesy to our patrons.
  • Each patron is responsible for any and all materials checked out on their library card and for returning materials on time
  • Parents/guardians are responsible for the fines and overdue materials of their minor children (under 18 years of age)
  • Patrons who have an item seven (7) or more days overdue will have their borrowing privileges suspended until the overdue item is returned
  • Patrons who have an outstanding fine of $10.00 or more will have their library privileges suspended until the outstanding fine is paid

    • A patron’s account will be submitted to the collection agency when they owe $75 for more than 60 days.
  • Parents/guardians of minor children (under age 18) with overdue materials and/or outstanding fines will have their (parent/guardian) library privileges suspended until the overdue items checked out by their children are returned and/or the outstanding fine is paid. • The library does not accept replacement books in lieu of payment
  • The library does not allow patrons to “work off” fines and fees
