Laura Martin Author Visit

May 2 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Ferdinand Library is proud to be a recipient of Indiana Humanities’ Speaker Program Grant.  Indiana Humanities connects people, opens minds and enriches lives by creating and facilitating programs that encourage Hoosiers to think, read and talk. By developing programs, issuing grants, hosting events, connecting the State and providing platforms for discussion; Indiana Humanities supports, highlights and initiates programs that facilitate a culture of ideas and learning in Indiana. As an Indiana Authors Award Recipient, Laura Martin was chosen to speak at Forest Park Jr. High and Ferdinand Library on May 2nd.

Mrs. Martin believes in chasing her dreams and she brought that philosophy to her classroom for six years as a seventh grade English teacher. “Edge of Extinction-The Ark Plan” is Laura’s first novel—and a dream come true. She is a mom by day and a middle grade author by night, although in her heart she will always be a seventh-grade language arts teacher. After spending six years teaching the fine art of dream chasing as a teacher, she is enjoying every minute of this lifelong dream of being an author. Her middle grade book, “Glitch”, was shortlisted for a 2022 Indiana Authors Award. When she isn’t writing stories about dinosaurs and underground civilizations, she can be found in the Indianapolis area with her dashing husband, Josh, her four adorable kids and an opinionated bulldog.

She will present at Forest Park Jr. High for students & staff during the day and will be at the Ferdinand Library on Thursday, May 2 for an Open House between 4:30-6PM.  Everyone is invited to meet her, talk to her about her journey and purchase/have her books personally autographed. Titles include: “Edge Of Extinction”, “Float”, “Glitch”, “Monster Missions” and “Vanishing Act”.  More information about her is available at: www.lauramartinbooks.com

Registration is not Required.
