1,000 Books Reading Challenge

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

The Jasper-Dubois County Public Library is proud to announce the kickoff of a new reading program called, 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. Hundreds of libraries across the nation are using this program to promote reading & literacy to newborns, infants, and toddlers.

GOAL:
Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler.(You can read a book more than once). The goal is to have read 1,000 books before your child starts kindergarten.

WHO CAN PARTICPATE:
Any child ages birth to five can participate. We encourage parents to start as early as they can so they are able to complete the program before the child enters Kindergarten.

HOW DO I REGISTER?:
This program is exclusively on the Beanstack app which is available on the App Store & Google Play. You can also participate at jdcpl.beanstack.org. Create an account (if you haven’t already) and register for the 1,000 Books Challenge. Also stop by the library to pick up your provided companion Badge Book that contains stickers & other fun activities.

TRACK YOUR READING:
Log each book you read on Beanstack and earn digital badges.

MILESTONES:
Each time you read & log 100 books, bring your child into the library to be recognized! Please use the same library to participate in these milestone celebrations.

1,000 books may seem like a lot, but if you read just 1 book a night, you’ll reach your goal in less than 3 years. If you read 3 books a night, you could reach your goal in 1 year! Ask our friendly staff for any assistance. We’re here to help you on your journey to 1,000 books! Happy Reading!
