The concept behind Conversations for Change is to provide a safe place for difficult conversations, to seek to better understand situations that are different from our own, to raise awareness of the issue within our community, and finally to bring about positive change that makes our community a better, safer place to live.
In the Let’s Talk about Racism: The Tyler Merritt Project event, we will be discussing the idea of being color brave instead of being color blind and how racial bias works. We will also be introducing the works of Tyler Merritt. The community will be invited to take home a copy of I Take My Coffee Black: Reflections on Tupac, Musical Theater, Faith, and Being Black in America. Participants will encouraged to join us again for a book discussion on March 13th at 6:00. (Books will be checked out and returned on the date of the book discussion. No library card will be required). This is a free event that requires no registration, and we encourage the entire community to attend.
