Photographs of Dubois County

About the program

In the summer of 2011, the Jasper Public Library was awarded an LSTA grant through the Indiana State Library to begin a digitization program to scan and catalogue photographs contributed by residents of Dubois County to create a database of pictures of local people, places, and events. This database is part of Indiana Memory, a collaboration of libraries, museums, archives, and related organizations to provide access to the history of Indiana through digital records. This endeavor allows access to people all over the globe to our records and resources.

How to participate

If you are interested in submitting photographs to be scanned and added to this database, please visit one of our branches and ask for a "Photos to Files" packet at the front desk. This envelope will contain a waiver and instruction sheet as well as twenty-five photo caption cards, which must be filled out for each picture submitted. Everyone who submits photographs to be scanned will receive a free USB flash drive with their digital pictures loaded onto it (while supplies last). We ask that you bring pictures that are from the 1980s and earlier.

Contact

If you would like more information, please call the library at (812) 482-2712 and ask for Erin Doyle or e-mail her at administrator@jdcpl.us.
